Man Charged in Crash that Killed Michelle Davis, 33, of Lorton

Detectives from FCPD Crash Reconstruction Unit charged a Leesburg man for the April 23 fatal crash in Lorton.

April 23 at 5:14 p.m., officers responded to Ox Road and Davis Drive in Lorton for a crash. Detectives determined that Steven Kowalik, 64, of Leesburg was driving a 2012 Ford F350 towing a fishing boat northbound on Ox Road when he fell unconscious, crossed over the grass median, and struck a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze near Davis Drive head-on.

The driver of the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, Michelle Davis, 33, of Lorton, was declared deceased on the scene. The driver of the Ford F350 was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police reports on April 24 said that preliminarily, alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. Detectives continue to investigate whether speed was a factor.

On July 11, Kowalik turned himself in and was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter.  He was later released on a $7,500 bond.
