Sangster Elementary Holds Science Fair and Invention Convention

More than 180 students from kindergarten through sixth grade participated in the Sangster Elementary Science Fair and Invention Convention.

Sangster Elementary School held its 3rd annual PTA sponsored Science Fair and Invention Convention on Thursday evening March 15. More than 180 students from kindergarten through sixth grade participated in preparing 130 science projects. Topics included: “Teeth Destroying Drinks,” “French Fry Fun,” ”Home Made Radar,” “Bath Bomb Bonanza” and “Lenticular Science.”

Maj. Gen. Charles Frank Bolden Jr., (USMC-Ret.) former NASA Head Administrator and space shuttle pilot, was the honored guest at the fair. He signed autographs, viewed science projects and had a 30 minute “Q&A” session with the students.

NASA educational outreach brought activity sheets, patches and drawstring bags. Other activities/booths included displays from the Northern Virginia Mineral Club, Origami in science, the US Patent and Trademark office and hands-on plasma ball demonstrations.
