The community is invited to a family-friendly volunteer event: VolunteerFest, presented by Volunteer Fairfax, is the local celebration of National Make A Difference Day. This region-wide community service event -- to be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 -- is dedicated to mobilizing volunteer power to tackle projects at nonprofits in our neighborhoods. There will be a variety of projects, in various locations with morning, afternoon and evening shifts available, rain or shine. If you are a first-time volunteer, this one-day extravaganza is a great way to get started. Volunteer service hours are available. All volunteer activities are free to the participants.
