Five Virginia farms are currently supplying the recently opened Wegmans grocery store in Alexandria with fresh produce. Those include:

*Worrell’s Family Farm in Carroll

Green squash, Goldbar squash and Sugar snap peas

*Kirby Farms, LLC in Mechanicsville

Cucumbers

*Living Farms in Leesburg

Hydroponic basil

*Shenandoah Growers in Harrisonburg

Fresh herbs

*Cassell Farms in Wytheville

Broccoli crowns

“Our goal is to source produce as near to our stores as possible during local growing seasons,” Wegmans representative Jo Natale said in an email.

These growers may be supplying other Virginia Wegmans, Natale added. The crops they contribute will change with the seasons, and other local sources will be added as different crops become available.

Wegmans Alexandria is located at 7905 Hilltop Village Center Drive.
