Noah Coffman, 14, ninth grader at Edison High School, with parents Lisa and Greg Coffman of Alexandria, participated in the second annual Race for Every Child to benefit Children's National Health System. There were more than 4600 participants raising more than $1 million for Children's National. Lisa runs half marathons and Greg runs marathons. Noah likes to play basketball.

In sixth grade Noah was diagnosed with scoliosis (curvature of the spine). He was placed in a brace but after months it was clear that he would need surgery to correct it. He had the surgery in March 2014, which lasted for 8 hours, and since than has been doing very well.
