Foster Parents Needed

For more than 114 years, United Methodist Family Services (UMFS) has empowered children, their families, and the community. In order to successfully help children in crisis, UMFS is always looking for good foster homes. Families come in all shapes and sizes - single or married adults -- and are willing to parent a child who needs a loving, caring, and stable family environment in order to thrive.

If you are thinking about becoming a foster, respite, or foster to adopt parent, take the first step and attend the NOVA office's free, no-obligation information sessions for prospective foster or foster to adopt parents to learn more about the process. UMFS will have several opportunities in the coming weeks.

The first opportunity will be on Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. for prospective respite, foster, and foster to adopt parents. This session will also explain the steps and requirements to becoming a foster parent. This session will be held at the UMFS Northern Virginia Regional Center, located at 5400 Shawnee Road, Suite 101, Alexandria. The office is located near I-395 and Edsall Road –West, and has a large “Farmer’s Insurance” sign on the front of the building. Another opportunity will be on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the same location.
